Romantic Getaway: Cozy Cove Cottages

Lake Travis Cozy Cove is a wonderfully tranquil and peaceful Bed and Breakfast on Lake Travis in the beautiful Texas Hill Country west of Austin, Texas.

The hills of the Travis County Texas area may not be the mountains of The Ozarks but they do indeed make for fine riding. With every direction leading to a great day on the bike you will want to take a few days to enjoy your visit. My suggestion to you is to enjoy some of that time at the Lake Travis Cozy Cove cottages. And if there is quite a few of you riding on the trip or just one or two, they have the perfect cottage waiting for you.

The first morning I awoke surrounded by the sounds of birds and rustling of tree leaves. The sounds in and of themselves were magical to my ears. Slapping barefoot to the kitchen I checked out the promised “Continental breakfast basket” expecting a couple of stale Danish and a banana. I started a pot of coffee and begin to check out the yogurts and juices in the fridge and the yummy Danishes, pastries and cereals, along with strawberries and bananas, wondering how I could work them all into my diet. As the coffee perked I gazed out the kitchen window across the wraparound porch to glimpse Lake Travis. The night before riding in on what one can only call a “trail” it had been to dark to see the Lake so I took one of the gooey pastries, a yogurt and a cup of coffee to the porch to enjoy the view on one of the provided “lawn” chairs on the porch.

My cabin was laid out like one big party house. Each door leading to the next room until you have done a complete circle.

But maybe you are looking for a more intimate setting perhaps? They offer different size cabins-for 2 people to a group. Each cabin has a full kitchen with all the amenities one can think of. Although they also have television with DVD/CD and cable I never bothered to turn it on as the scenery seemed much more entertaining to watch.

Some cottages, like mine, have covered decks overlooking Lake Travis where you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets. If boating or jet ski is your thing, rentals are available. Right outside my master bedroom was a barbecue grill on a huge wooden deck.

Here you can indeed relax. I felt like I was a million miles from the nearest traffic jam (although in fact, I wasn’t because the previous evening we had dinner in Austin.)

Cozy Cove cottages are located west of Austin, Texas about 50 miles from downtown. The location is convenient to just about any attraction you wish to visit in the area. Frederickburg for Octoberfest, Wurstfest in New Braunfels, Marble Falls for one of the areas best rides, San Antonio or maybe a tour of a nearby winery.

Close also is world famous “Luckenbach, Texas, Willie, Waylon and the boys…”

Just north of Fredericksburg is the granite monolith at Enchanted Rock State Natural Area. This granite dome ranks with Stone Mountain, Georgia and Ayres Rock, Australia as natural wonders of the world.

Visit the Hill Country between mid-March and mid-April to enjoy the Texas Wildflowers at their best when the roadsides are vibrant palettes of color and the weather incredible.

Cozy Cove cottages are only minutes from the Pace Bend State Park, its 1300 acres make it one of the largest and most popular parks on Lake Travis. Throughout out the park the lake forms many coves that are idea for swimming, sunning or just picnicking in relative privacy. Stay alert and ride carefully this entire area is home to many deer and other wildlife and they are not timid about walking across the road in front of your motorcycle.

Close by also is one of the most...
