From the Editor: May June 2006
Life is change and so it would seem is the life of a magazine. There are many things that change over time in the development of a magazine. You add some things, you take out others; you experiment to see what works and what your readers want.
We began over 10 years ago in 1995, as HYPERLINK “http://www.BikerTrash.com” www.BikerTrash.com an on-line magazine, then, in 2003, we progressed to working on the Lone Star Biker, a print motorcycle travel magazine for Texas. After publishing the Lone Star Biker for about a year we began to realize that limiting the magazine to motorcycling in Texas would keep us within the boundaries of the state, but we found our readers did not limit their riding to within the state! We decided that we needed to go where are readers had gone, were going or wanted to go.
Thus, after much thought and consideration, the decision was made to change the name to On The Road Again to reflect a broader coverage area and to then begin to publish more articles and photos of exciting motorcycle touring opportunities, wherever they might occur.
This change has been more successful than we ever imagined. We have had the opportunity to provide travel information on places ranging from the Blue Ridge Parkway to the Big Sur and from the Texas Hill Country to Route 66.
In this issue we have crossed into the international travel scene with a major feature on motorcycle touring in the Canadian Rockies that truly illustrates the beauty of riding in that area. The international flavor will continue to expand in our July/August issue with coverage of touring New Zealand and a trip to Copper Canyon, Mexico. The world is a big place and we want to bring it all to you as you make plans for your next great adventure in motorcycling.
As our coverage has expanded, so has our distribution. We are pleased to announce that we just completed contract negotiations with an international magazine distributor and soon our readers will find Motorcycles: On The Road Again on thousands of news stands in all 50 states and throughout Canada in locations such as Barnes & Noble, Borders, Hastings, B. Dalton, Office Max, Gander Mountain, Waldenbooks and more.
The most important thing to us though is that we keep the magazine useful and entertaining to our readers and that we provide the kind of information that makes traveling by motorcycle even more fun.
Let us know the articles that you enjoy and what material you would like to see us improve or expand upon. Our readers are our most important assets and we will continue to listen to you and welcome your comments, suggestions and your stories about your motorcycle rides, wherever they may take you! As long as you Get On The Road Again!
