Insurance Corner: Born On A Motorcycle
One of the insurance questions an agent usually asks is, “How many years of experience do you have riding a motorcycle?”
I always get a laugh when a potential client answers, “Lady, I was born on a motorcycle.” I get this mental image of a tatooed, bearded infant in leather diapers zooming out of womb on a panhead.
No matter how many years of experience you have, it’s never enough to keep you forever safe from all the “others” behind the wheel of a car.
I have heard some real horror stories from veteran riders about past accidents, and how they survived. The good news is, they still ride.
The local dealerships offer a motorcycle safety course we should all sign up for. There are also classes offered through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. Not only will it make you be a better rider, but many of the insurance companies will give you a discount for completing the course.
Remember, no matter how long you’ve been riding, you’re never too experienced to learn something new.
